Changes to the SCHADS Award

Last year, the ASU took our case for an improved classification structure to the Fair Work Commission (FWC). In April, the FWC suggested adopting the Aged Care classification structure for our sector. In June, we and supportive employers asked for more time to develop a better alternative, but the FWC declined and requested feedback on their proposal by September.

They have said they’ll consider the ASU’s broader review of pay and classifications next year, but for now, we must ensure the FWC’s proposed changes don’t undermine our Equal Pay or overlook the unique work of community and disability workers.
